Bucknell slips past Duquesne 27-26

LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Brandon Wesley scored from 1-yard out with 57 seconds left in the game, sealing Bucknell’s 27-26 comeback win over Duquesne on Saturday night in the season opener for both teams.

The Bison took over, trailing 26-20 with 6:46 left to play, on their own 18 yard line and Wesley went to work. He completed passes of 27 and 17 yards, following that up with a 9-yard run to set up his touchdown.

Wesley finished 11 for 21 passing for 173 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 23 yards on 10 carries and his game-winning score. Jeremiah Young added 105 yards on 19 carries for Bucknell.

Bucknell led 17-16 at halftime after Wesley’s 11-yard TD to Gabe Skwara. But Larry McCoy’s 4-yard rushing score and Charlie Leventry’s 34-yard field goal put Duquesne up 26-20 in the third, setting up Wesley’s winning score.
