Camas — Vancouver-Clark Parks & Recreation teamed up with the Jack, Will and Rob Boys & Girls Club to lead summer camp students in outdoor, educational activities. Shannon Black, the club’s literacy supervisor, and Nastassja Pace, the parks volunteer coordinator, led 35 students into the Camas Lily Fields to hike, learn about native plants and the importance of prairie ecosystems. During their time in the lily field, the campers collected seeds as part of an effort to replenish the prairie with native plants. In the fall, volunteers will remove invasive scotch broom and spread the native seeds in the area. People interested in volunteering to help preserve the Camas lily fields should call 360-487-8324.
