LONDON (AP) — Several English soccer clubs are interested in signing David Beckham when his MLS contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy expires at the end of the year.

Both Tottenham and Queens Park Rangers have spoken this week of trying to bring the former England captain to London in January.

The 36-year-old midfielder trained with Tottenham during the last MLS offseason and manager Harry Redknapp is interested in signing him.

Redknapp told Friday’s editions of The Sun newspaper that “if David wants to come to Tottenham, I’d welcome him with open arms. He’s definitely still good enough to play in the Premier League.”

QPR’s interest in bringing the former Manchester United and Real Madrid player to the Premier League newcomers emerged in a tweet from owner Tony Fernandes.
