Patrons, employees and other followers of Vancouver and Battle Ground schools will find new school board meeting times and one major change of venue starting next week.
The shifts coincide with the onset of the 2011-12 school year.
• The Vancouver Public Schools board will continue to meet in the Robert C. Bates Center for Educational Leadership, 2921 Falk Road (adjacent to Eleanor Roosevelt Elementary School and the district office).
Meetings are typically the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.
Starting Tuesday, they begin at 5:15 p.m., rather than the previous 4 p.m. gavel.
The board meeting schedule is also available on the district’s website.
• The Battle Ground Public Schools board has elected to convene meetings in a more central site, accessible for more residents than the CASEE complex in Brush Prairie.
Starting Monday, the board’s “permanent” home will be the Lewisville Campus — the former Lewisville Middle School — in Building C, Room C26, at 406 N.W. Fifth Ave. in Battle Ground.
One easy route for drivers: Turn north off Main Street between Dick’s Tire Factory and the U.S. Post Office onto Northwest Fifth Avenue. The drive skirts the Battle Ground High School play fields and bends straight to the Lewisville parking lot. Building C is a modest walk to the north.
After Battle Ground meetings bounced for years between different days and times, the board settled on the second and fourth Monday afternoons of each month.
Work sessions begin at 3 p.m., and the regular meetings at 4:30 p.m.
Per tradition, the board will meet occasionally at other schools during the school year, sometimes on other days, but at the same start time.
Patrons may track the schedule on the district's website.
