LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — The top sports court has upheld a one-year doping ban for a Dutch speedskater who was 15 when he tested positive for an anabolic steroid.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled the skater had “significant” nandrolone in his urine sample taken at a national junior championships in January 2009. The skater’s name was not given, but he was identified as Wesley Lommers last year by the Dutch skating federation.

Lommers was banned a year, with a further year suspended on probation, before a Dutch skating federation appeals panel cleared him on a technicality because case documents were missing.

CAS upheld a joint appeal by the Netherlands federation and national doping authority to reinstate the punishment. Lommers has served the ban and returned to competition.
