STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen says injured offensive linemen James Carmon and Quentin Saulsberry won’t need surgery after injuries suffered during Saturday’s 41-34 loss to Auburn.
Mullen said Saulsberry has a sprained knee, but there was a “good chance” the senior center could return for No. 25 Mississippi State when it hosts No. 3 LSU on Thursday. Carmon suffered a leg injury in the second quarter against Auburn, and the starting left tackle spent the second half on the sidelines on crutches. Mullen didn’t give any details about Carmon’s injury, or make a prediction about the 6-foot-7, 320-pound senior’s availability against LSU.
Carmon’s backup is 6-foot-7, 295-pound redshirt freshman Blaine Clausell. Mullen said even with the injuries, game film showed the offensive line played well against Auburn.
