UCLA swaps starting QBs again after Texas loss

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The nonconference portion of UCLA’s schedule went mostly wrong for coach Rick Neuheisel.

He hopes a return to conference play with a definite starting quarterback can get the Bruins’ season back on track.

Neuheisel shuffled his quarterbacks for the third time in three weeks Monday, confirming Richard Brehaut will start at Oregon State on Saturday.

Kevin Prince started UCLA’s losses to Houston and Texas, getting hurt in the season opener against the Cougars before throwing three interceptions in the first quarter of last weekend’s 49-20 loss to the Longhorns.

Brehaut played well in relief, but didn’t look sharp in his only start against San Jose State.

Neuheisel is going back to Brehaut, but says he’s “not giving up” on Prince.
