LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Los Angeles court appears to be close to seating a jury that will hear the involuntary manslaughter case of Michael Jackson’s personal physician.
Prosecutors and defense attorneys had each used eight of 10 challenges to the group of potential jurors after questioning members of the group Friday morning.
Once all the challenges are exhausted, then attorneys will work toward finding six alternate jurors to hear the case. Opening statements are expected to begin on Tuesday in Los Angeles.
Bailiffs marched 84 potential jurors into the courtroom Friday morning, but 10 were quickly dismissed because they said they could no longer serve on the case.
Murray has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter and could face four years in prison and loss of his medical license if convicted.
