PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A wildfire discovered Thursday in Central Oregon has burned 1,500 acres, fueled by juniper and sage brush, but fire officials say their lines are holding well.
The Northwest Interagency Coordination Center reports the Alder Springs fire burning about 12 miles north of Redmond hasn’t yet threatened farm structures in the area.
The fire was reported to be 40 percent contained on Saturday morning.
Firefighters used bulldozers, fire retardant and buckets of water dropped from helicopters to hold the lines.
