Indians recall OF Jerad Head

CLEVELAND (AP) — Outfielder Jerad Head is back with the Cleveland Indians.

The Indians purchased Head’s contract from Triple-A Columbus on Sunday before their final home game, against the Minnesota Twins. Right-hander Josh Tomlin, out since Aug. 25 with a strained right elbow, was moved from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day DL to clear roster room.

The move gives manager Manny Acta another outfielder for Sunday and Cleveland’s final three games in Detroit after Trevor Crowe strained his left shoulder Saturday trying to make a diving catch.

All-Star shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera was not in the lineup and is questionable for the rest of the year. He was hit in the right elbow with a pitch Friday night.
