WASHINGTON (AP) — Matthieu Perreault, Chris Borque and Cody Eakin — all in top contention for the Washington Capitals’ final regular season roster spot — combined for six points Monday in a 3-1 preseason victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Perreault had a goal and an assist, Borque had three assists, and Eakin scored a goal. All contributed on Eakin’s goal that made it 2-0 in the first period as they make their cases for a place on the Capitals’ talented-stock team.

Dennis Wideman added a power-play goal in the first. Perreault scored with the man advantage in the second.

The Capitals fielded a lineup that was close to full-strength, while the Blue Jackets left many top players home. Vinny Prospal scored for Columbus in the third period.
