Centralia woman charged with murder in baby death

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) -- The Centralia woman charged with murder in the death of her baby son was under investigation by state Child Protective Services at the time of the fatal injury.

The Olympian reports (http://bit.ly/nVzZLU ) child welfare workers were investigating 20-year-old Rachel Bryan as a fit mother after a nurse reported concerns. Bryan's mother told officials she had been diagnosed with mental problems as a teenager.

Her 4-month-old boy died Saturday at a Tacoma hospital. Bryan was arrested by Thurston County deputies because the baby reportedly suffered the head injuries at Grand Mound.
