Michael Knox scored five touchdowns — an interception return, a punt return and three TD runs — for the Spudders.

Knox had touchdown runs of 45 and 73 yards in the first half. But the key play was his 60-yard interception return for the touchdown on the final play of the first half.

“There was about seven seconds to go in the half, and (Stevenson) decided to throw the ball up there,” Ridgefield coach Matt Martin said. “Michael picked it off and brought it back. That was the turning point. We were up 14-7 and that made it 21-7. And then we just dominated in the second half.”

Knox returned a punt 40 yards for another touchdown in the third quarter, then added a 1-yard TD run to make it 35-7.

Gunnar Long and Ian Williams also had TD runs for the Spudders.

The Ridgefield defense recovered three fumbles that set up touchdowns.

Final statistics from the game were not available, although Martin said Knox rushed for more than 200 yards.
