GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) — Cleveland Indians pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez doesn’t think he should be suspended for hitting Troy Tulowitzki of the Colorado Rockies in the left elbow with a pitch.

Jimenez said Monday that players are hit by pitches all the time and it is part of the game.

On Sunday, the right-hander drilled his former teammate in the first inning. Both benches emptied, but no punches were thrown. Tulowitzki went to the hospital for X-rays, which were negative.

Jimenez said he was surprised at Rockies manager Jim Tracy calling it the most gutless act he had seen in 35 years in the game. The pitcher said the incident is behind him and he is ready to focus on the season.
