SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) — A Lane County sheriff’s deputy shot and wounded a woman who was armed with a gun outside a home near Springfield.

Sheriff Capt. Byron Trapp says deputies had responded Monday night to a report of domestic violence and found the woman in a driveway. They say she refused to put down her pistol and brushed off an attempt to stun her with a Taser.

Trapp says she was shot when she turned toward deputies with the gun.

Trapp told The Register-Guard (http://is.gd/dwLSPB) the situation was complicated by two hostile men. One was arrested for interfering.

That delayed getting help for the woman for about 30 minutes. She was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield.

An interagency team of detectives is investigating the shooting.
