YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — A Yakima police officer pleaded guilty Tuesday to misdemeanor harassment for threats he made to his estranged wife and her boyfriend.

The officer, Rick Schuknecht, had already spent two days in jail and the rest of a year-long sentence was suspended.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports (http://is.gd/HBlGZf) the 55-year-old has worked more than 26 years for the department. He’s been on paid leave since October when he threatened to kill his wife and her boyfriend after losing a court ruling in a divorce case.
