Tualatin police have arrested a Vancouver man on suspicion of impersonating an officer.
Police said they found Robert J. Burke Jr., 44, late Thursday parked on Southwest Tualatin-Sherwood Road in a red Volkswagen GTI with red and blue emergency lights.
A Tualatin police officer followed Burke’s vehicle and initiated a traffic stop, then found Burke “had multiple items in his vehicle to make him look like a police officer,” including a ballistic vest and a police equipment belt, according to the Tualatin Police Department.
Police Lt. Greg Pickering said Burke might have been involved in a similar incident in March in Tualatin, in which a man stopped a vehicle and questioned the driver.
Pickering said he did not know any alleged motive.
Anyone who might have been stopped by Burke is asked to call the Tualatin Police Department, 503-691-4800.
