Letter: Buffett Rule promotes tax fairness

The Columbian
Published: April 19, 2012, 5:00pm

What a surprise. The Republicans killed the Buffett Rule bill that would have required millionaires to pay their fair share of taxes. I paid my taxes this week at an effective rate of 28 percent. Mitt Romney paid 13 percent in 2010 and an estimated 15 percent for 2011. As a middle class retiree, I question the fairness of our tax system and the priorities of politicians who vote to sustain this inequity.
