Columbia Springs seeks help with plant removal

Columbia Springs will host a volunteer-driven cleanup of invasive plant species on Saturday. The Vancouver-based environmental education center will focus primarily on English ivy crowding native trees across the 100-acre property.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome, according to event organizers. Children younger than 16 need parental permission; those younger than 14 need parental supervision. Snacks and tools will be provided, but participants are asked to bring sturdy shoes, weather-appropriate clothing and water.

Saturday’s cleanup will start at 9 a.m., continuing until about 1 p.m. Columbia Springs is at the former Vancouver Trout Hatchery, 12208 S.E. Evergreen Highway in Vancouver.
