Racing around the world for $1 million begins with a 60-second chance to impress. Big Al’s and KOIN Local 6 hope to give aspiring local contenders their shot at the reality show “The Amazing Race” by hosting an open casting call May 20.

Contestants will give a one-minute audition in front of KOIN Local 6 cameras at the Big Al’s at Progress Ridge in Beaverton. The recorded auditions will then be sent to the casting producers of the Emmy-winning show for the next round of auditions. Unlike most open casting calls, where hopefuls wait in line, Big Al’s will be employing a ticket system with contestants’ numbers being called at random to conduct their audition.

The Amazing Race, which will be wrapping up its 20th season, pits 11 teams of two against each other in a race around the globe as they compete in a variety of country-based challenges, with the teams that fall behind eliminated. The drama of the show stems from the relationships between the pairs, something the producers suggest showcasing in the audition.

The casting call runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 20 at Big Al’s Progress Ridge, 4950 S.W. Barrows Road, Beaverton.

You can send an email to AmazingRace@Koin.com for contest details, rules and guidelines or visit Big Al’s.
