SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS PROGRAM begins at 4 p.m. at Community A.M.E. Zion Church, 3605 E. 13th St. The sixth annual Jennie T. Kemp Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to provide assistance to qualifying applicants who will attend an institute of higher learning or vocational training. The Rev. LeRoy Haynes, pastor of Allen Temple C.M.E. Church in Portland, will be speaker of the hour. The Rev. J.W. “Matt” Hennessee, pastor of Vancouver Avenue First Baptist Church of Portland, will present the scholarships.
