SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS PROGRAM begins at 4 p.m. at Community A.M.E. Zion Church, 3605 E. 13th St. The sixth annual Jennie T. Kemp Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to provide assistance to qualifying applicants who will attend an institute of higher learning or vocational training. The Rev. LeRoy Haynes, pastor of Allen Temple C.M.E. Church in Portland, will be speaker of the hour. The Rev. J.W. “Matt” Hennessee, pastor of Vancouver Avenue First Baptist Church of Portland, will present the scholarships. 6700 N.E. 29th Ave., Portland will install the Rev. Bob Martinek as pastor at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 29. Martinek, a Navy veteran, graduated from seminary in 1988 and was ordained at Trinity Lutheran Church in Richmond, Va. He lives in Vancouver.
