KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals have recalled right-hander Jeremy Jeffress from Triple-A Omaha.

The team announced the move Wednesday. Jeffress was 5-4 with a 4.97 ERA in 37 relief appearances for Omaha. He had 61 strikeouts and 25 walks in 58 innings.

One of four players acquired from Milwaukee in the 2010 trade for Zack Greinke, Jeffress appeared in two games for the Royals in April. He allowed four hits and walked two in two innings.

Jeffress takes the roster spot of reliever Jonathan Broxton, who was traded Tuesday to the Cincinnati Reds.
