KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) — Jamaicans have erupted with joy as Usain Bolt dashed into the record books once again and their small country swept the 200-meter race at the London Olympics.

Thousands of Jamaicans watched Thursday’s race on a giant video screen at Kingston’s busiest intersection. People waved flags and chanted “One, two, three!” as the three Jamaican runners finished ahead of the rest of the pack.

Drivers stuck in gridlocked traffic blew their horns. One man shouted that Jamaicans had just witnessed something very special as the country of less than 3 million people showed its global dominance in track once again.

Bolt won the race in 19.32 seconds to defend his gold medal victory in the 200-meter in Beijing. He is the first athlete to win the event in consecutive Olympic games.
