Crews in Skamania County temporarily suspended search efforts Tuesday night for a 60-year-old woman who went missing Saturday while looking for mushrooms.

The search is set to resume at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

About 40 searchers Tuesday combed the area where she was last seen, and a Bonneville Power Administration helicopter assisted, according to a bulletin from the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office.

The area is steep and is covered by dense brush, said Skamania Undersheriff Dave Cox.

Gail Wietrick of Trout Lake was last seen Saturday afternoon when she left Little Rock Creek Road about four miles northwest of Mill A in south-central Skamania County. The group she was with was unable to find her by 3 p.m. Sunday and told the sheriff’s office she was missing, Cox said.

Authorities are requesting additional search resources, including 50 ground searchers, four-wheeler search and rescue teams, and K-9 search-and-rescue teams, the bulletin said. Air support is weather-dependent.
