Middle Tennessee makes easy work of UAB, 84-64

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — Middle Tennessee’ Raymond Cintron scored 13 points to lead four players with double figures in an 84-64 victory over Alabama-Birmingham on Wednesday.

Shawn Jones had 12 points, and Marcos Knight and Jason Jones 10 each for the Blue Raiders (6-2) and in a testament to their depth, Neiko Hunter and Kerry Hammonds had nine apiece.

Jordan Swing had 13 points to lead the Blazers (4-5), and Fahro Alihodzic and Preston Purifoy scored 10 each.

The Blazers stayed close for much of the first half, trailing 34-27 with 5 minutes left. The Blue Raiders outscored the Blazers 9-2 the rest of the way to make it 43-29 at the break.

Hunter’s jumper 3:03 into the second half boosted the Blue Raiders’ lead to 51-33 to put the game out of reach.

The Blue Raiders shot 28 of 55 from the field to the Blazers’ 19 of 51.
