SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Mariners have finalized their one-year contract with outfielder Jason Bay that was agreed upon earlier this week during baseball’s winter meetings.

The Mariners announced the deal on Saturday. General manager Jack Zduriencik says he was happy to be able to bring Bay back to the Pacific Northwest and hopefully revitalize a career that floundered the past three seasons with the New York Mets.

Bay hit just 26 homers and played in only 288 games in his three seasons in New York due to injuries. He was a three-time All-Star in previous stops with Pittsburgh and Boston, and is a low risk move for the Mariners. Bay’s contract with the Mets was terminated last month, but he is still getting paid the $21 million he was owed.
