LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) — Desharik Guidry recorded his fourth consecutive double-double, 15 points and 12 rebounds, as McNeese State beat Louisiana-Lafayette 77-72 Saturday night.

Guidry is the first McNeese player to total double-digit points and rebounds in four straight games since Anthony Pullard did it 22 years ago.

Adrian Fields came off the bench to lead McNeese State (4-3) with 19 points.

Trailing at halftime 30-27, McNeese State took a 35-34 lead on Jeremie Mitchell’s jumper with 16:37 remaining. Mitchell made a layup and converted on a three-point play to extend the lead to five, 41-36.

After Guidry’s two free throws made it 64-54 with 5:25 left to play, Louisiana-Lafayette (3-6) cut the lead to three behind Elfrid Payton’s steal and layup. That was the closest the Ragin’ Cajuns would get as McNeese State made four straight free throws to close out the game.

Three players finished with 17 points for Louisiana-Lafayette.
