LONDON (AP) — London police are taking no more action against a man arrested after being pictured making an alleged racist gesture during a League Cup match between Chelsea and Manchester United

A spectator in the Chelsea supporters’ end was pictured making a monkey gesture during the home side’s 5-4 extra-time victory over United last month.

The Metropolitan Police said on Thursday that “following an investigation which included taking witness statements from those around him in the crowd and viewing CCTV footage, a decision was taken with the Crown Prosecution Service to proceed with no further action.”

Police did not explain the decision to drop the case against the 28-year-old man, who Chelsea had banned from Stamford Bridge pending the outcome of the investigation.
