Jacksonville State beats Presbyterian in OT 66-59

CLINTON, S.C. (AP) — Brian Williams scored 24 points, making 6-of-10 3-pointers to help Jacksonville State beat Presbyterian in overtime 66-59 Saturday night in nonconference action.

Tarvin Gaines added 17 points and Darion Rackley chipped in with 15 points to help Jacksonville State (8-2) win its fourth game in a row.

Trailing 50-48, Presbyterian’s (2-8) Eric Washington made two free throws to tie the game at 50 with 1:10 left in the second half. Both teams missed on their last possession, forcing overtime.

In the overtime period, Jacksonville State dominated. The Gamecocks opened on an 11-4 run to take a 61-54 lead with a 1:30 left to play. Williams’ 3-pointer capped the run, and Gaines’ last three free throws in the final 50 seconds sealed the victory.

Jacksonville State missed just one shot in overtime while Presbyterian made just 4 of 11 field goals (36.4 percent).

Khalid Mutakabbir led Presbyterian with 17 points.
