Boys basketball: Hudson’s Bay 46, Heritage 44

A long wait for the first win of the season ended with a long pass for the Hudson’s Bay boys basketball team.

Jomarri Gable scored as time expired on Tuesday, giving the Eagles a thrilling 46-44 win in a non-league game at Heritage. Hudson’s Bay (1-8) inbounded the ball from its defensive baseline with 1.4 seconds on the clock and the score tied. Gable was able to catch the long pass in the air and score before time ran out.

It was the only lead of the game for the Eagles, who outscored the Timberwolves 20-10 in the fourth quarter.

Dewayne Whittley scored 15 points for Hudson’s Bay. All six Eagles who played scored points.

For Heritage (3-5), four players accounted for 42 points. Tim Hergert scored 13 points and David Martin 11.

The Timberwolves held an eight-point lead at halftime and maintained it through the third quarter.
