CHICAGO (AP) — Former Chicago White Sox pitcher Britt Burns and outfielder Vance Law are returning to the organization as members of the minor league staff.

Burns, who played for the White Sox from 1978-85, is the new pitching coach at Double-A Birmingham. He replaces Bobby Thigpen, now Chicago’s bullpen coach.

Burns has previously worked for the Houston, Miami and Detroit organizations.

Law was hired as special assistant to player development after serving as Brigham Young’s coach from 2000-12. He played 11 seasons in the majors and was with the White Sox from 1982-84.

The White Sox announced several other moves Tuesday with their development staff, including hiring Doug Sisson as outfield/baserunning instructor. He takes over for Daryl Boston, now Chicago’s first base coach.
