Letter: Problems with private liquor sales

The Columbian
Published: December 19, 2012, 4:00pm

After reading the Dec. 14 editorial, “Get tough on liquor sales: Privatized system won’t work if underage access isn’t tightly controlled,” I have to comment. Privatizing liquor sales has had three major results so far. They are: prices are up, consumption is up and now we have stealing. Is this what people voted for? The editorial called for better control of point of sale in the stores. Didn’t we have that with state-run stores? Won’t increased consumption lead to more people with alcohol problems?

Clark County doesn’t know what to do with marijuana gardens, but we have people selling the deadliest drug in every major grocery store in the county. Huh?
