KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Tyler Stone scored 28 points, including two free throws with 28 seconds left that gave UMKC a 66-65 victory over Southeast Missouri State on Saturday.

Stone was 10 of 17 from the field, was perfect on eight free-throw attempts and added nine rebounds for the Redhawks (8-6). Corey Wilford chipped in 15 points, six rebounds and six assists.

Nate Rogers had 14 points, including three 3-pointers, for the Kangaroos (4-8), and Fred Chatmon had 11 points and 13 rebounds. Thomas Staton scored 13 points, but his foul on Stone produced the game-winning free throws, and he and Estan Tyler each missed a 3-pointer in the final seconds.

Southeast Missouri State led by 11 in the second half, but UMKC fought back and took its first lead, 55-53, on Chatmon’s layup with 7:36 to play. Kirk Korver’s 3-pointer with 42 seconds left put UMKC ahead 65-64 before Stone’s foul shots.
