Letter: Herrera Beutler's stance troubling
Saturday, December 29, 2012
So, within one week, not only was a weapon found in a Vancouver high school, but we had the horrendous mass murder in Newtown, Conn.
U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, has taken $2,000 in 2012 contributions from the radical gun lobby, the National Rifle Association, which has fought for concealed carrying of guns pretty much every where, and against any sort of restrictions on firearms ownership or tracking of sales.
In the wake of what's happened, do you think she'd have revised her position with respect to the gun lobby?
I received no answer on that issue from her office, which I called Dec. 18.
I wonder how the people of Vancouver feel now about what is ostensibly their "representative."
And I wonder how the editorial board of The Columbian feels now about having endorsed such an embarrassment to us.
