Kent State holds on to beat Fairmont State 77-75

KENT, Ohio (AP) — Chris Evans finished with game-highs of 27 points and 9 rebounds to help Kent State hold on to beat Division II Fairmont State 77-75 Sunday night.

Kris Brewer added 11 points and Randal Holt chipped in with 10 to help Kent State (8-5) win its third game in a row.

Evans connected on a 3-pointer with 10:08 left to play to give Kent State its biggest lead of the game, 66-49. Evans was 6 of 10 from deep.

Stevie Browning sparked a 26-10 run for Fairmont State (5-3) with back-to-back 3-pointers to cut the lead to just one, 76-75 with 37 seconds left to play.

After Evans made 1 of 2 free throws to make it 77-75, Isaac Thornton missed a potential go-ahead 3-pointer for the Falcons with five seconds left to seal Kent State’s victory.

Isaiah Hill led five Falcons in double figures with 19 points.
