Young lifts Saint Mary’s over Harvard 70-69

MORAGA, Calif. (AP) — Mitchell Young hit a pair of free throws with 1.1 seconds remaining to put Saint Mary’s ahead for the first time all game and gave the Gaels a 70-69 comeback victory over Harvard on Monday night.

Saint Mary’s (11-3) trailed by as many as 18 points with 2:35 to go in the first half but used a 16-5 run over the final 6:38 in the second half to extend its home winning streak against non-conference opponents to 17 games.

Young had 16 points and eight rebounds, James Walker III had 12 points and seven rebounds and Stephen Holt and Beau Levesque each had 10.

Jonah Travis led Harvard (7-5) with 19 points and Siyani Chambers had 16 points, going a perfect 5 for 5 from beyond the arc while dishing out seven assists.

The Crimson hit nine 3-pointers and shot 52.1 percent from the field, making 25 of 48 shot attempts.
