CAIRO (AP) — A security official says fans of a winning Egyptian football team have flooded the field seconds a match with a major rival team was over, attacking players and fans of their opponents. At least 20 people were injured.

The security official said the fans chased the players and cornered their supporters on the field in the port city of Port Said and around the stadium, throwing stones and bottles at them.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to reporters.

Al-Masry team won a rare 3-1 against Al-Ahly, Egypt’s top team. The two teams have a long history of bad blood, and clashes have erupted in recent years between their fans.

Thousands of supporters covered the field, according to a video posted online.
