Letter: Lessons from Romney’s tax return

The Columbian
Published: February 3, 2012, 4:00pm

Mitt Romney’s perfectly legal tax return for 2010 shows that, while his income was $21.7 million, he paid into Social Security a self-employment tax of $14,576. That’s about .067 percent.

The rest of us, unless we made over $106,000, paid 6.2 percent matched by our employer’s 6.2 percent.

No wonder Social Security is going to be in trouble.
