Long Beach State dumps CS Northridge 75-67

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Larry Anderson scored 16 points to lead five Long Beach State players in double figures as the 49ers defeated Cal State Northridge 75-67 Saturday night.

T.J. Robinson added 14 points and 11 rebounds for Long Beach State (17-6, 10-0), which is off to its best conference start since winning 12 straight Big West games to start the 1973-74 season. The win was also Long Beach State’s 18th straight in regular-season conference play.

Josh Greene led Cal State Northridge (6-15, 2-8) with 26 points, and Stephen Maxwell added 10.

The 49ers also got 13 points from James Ennis, 12 from Eugene Phelps and 11 from Mike Caffey.

Both teams shot 41 percent from the floor, but Long Beach held a big advantage at the free-throw line. Although they only converted 56 from the line, the 49ers made 39 trips to the charity stripe, making 22. Northridge was just 12 of 17.
