CLEVELAND (AP) — Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson did not travel to Miami as originally planned because of continuing problems with a neck infection.

Gibson will miss his fifth straight game Tuesday with a “soft tissue infection” that he was hospitalized for last week. Gibson practiced for the first time in 10 days on Monday and afterward said he was feeling better. However, in a post-practice examination he told team doctors he still had discomfort in his neck and it was decided he would not accompany the team to play the Heat.

Gibson said his injury was “kind of hard to explain.” He said he may have hurt his neck in a Jan. 27 game against New Jersey. Gibson also had a cold, which caused excessive swelling in his neck. He spent two days in a Boston hospital for tests.
