Letter: Light rail questions prevail

The Columbian

As reported Feb. 3, “Herrera Beutler’s attempt to force CRC vote blocked,” U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, professes concern as to whether her constituents’ tax dollars are going to “federal programs” without their consent. She is worried that local residents will have to pay for operation and maintenance of light rail.

Are the rides going to be free, or will there be income from fares with which to pay for operation and maintenance? After all, charging fares to ride on light rail would be like charging tolls to use the bridge. Outrageous. But, free use of the light rail and of the bridge would be socialism in action. What are we to do?

Let’s hire another consultant.
