CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — A 21-year-old Oregon man accused of spanking his year-old son 50 to 60 times because the child wouldn’t stop crying has been charged with first-degree criminal mischief.
The Corvallis Gazette-Times reports (http://bit.ly/xdizTo) that a day care employee told the state Department of Human Services this week the little boy had bruises on his buttocks and upper thighs.
Brealan Mosieur of Philomath was charged Wednesday.
According to Benton County court documents, the man told police the child started crying when his diaper was changed Tuesday. The father says he spanked the child five or six swats each time he cried — about 10 times.
The father was ordered to have no contact with his son. His next court appearance is Feb. 27.
