Army defeats Navy 69-63 in double overtime

WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) — Josh Herbeck scored eight of his 19 points in overtime as Army defeated Navy 69-63 in double overtime on Saturday.

Army made up a four-point deficit in the first overtime and scored the first seven points of the second to build a 63-56 lead with 33 seconds remaining. Navy cut the deficit to 64-61 on a 3-pointer by Thurgood Wynn with 18 seconds left, but Army sealed it by making 6 of 7 free throws the rest of the way.

Ella Ellis scored 17 points and Maxwell Lenox had 13 for the Black Knights (11-14, 4-6 Patriot League), who snapped a four-game losing streak. Ellis has scored in double figures in 27 straight games.

Navy, which has lost 17 in a row, overcame 10-point deficit in the second half to force overtime. Jordan Sugars scored 14 while Worth Smith had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Midshipmen (3-20, 0-10).
