NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) — James Johnson scored 20 points and Ike Azotam had 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead Quinnipiac to a 67-59 Northeast Conference victory over Central Connecticut State on Sunday.

It was the second victory for the Bobcats (15-10, 8-6) this week over the Blue Devils (10-14, 7-7), but this one was much harder to come by than their 72-44 victory Wednesday night.

CCSU, after trailing 39-33 at halftime, had rallied to lead 59-54 with 6 minutes remaining. Quinnipiac, at that point, had not made a field goal in more than 4 minutes.

Johnson’s 3-pointer with 4:20 left ended the drought and cut the margin to two points. Two layups by Azotam gave the Bobcats a 61-59 lead with 3:14 left, and baskets by Johnson and Ousmane Drame made it 65-59 with 1:36 left.

CCSU did not score in the final 6 minutes.

Kyle Vinales led CCSU with 27 points.
