Stetson gets past Florida Gulf Coast 86-80

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Adam Pegg had a game-high 23 points to pace five double-figure scorers for Stetson in an 86-80 win over in-state foe Florida Gulf Coast on Friday night, snapping a four-game slide for the Hatters.

Aaron Graham added 19 points, Joel Naburgs 15, Chris Perez 12 and Dennis Diaz 10 for the Hatters (9-18, 6-10 Atlantic Sun Conference).

Stetson took a 44-34 lead into the locker room and held on for the win despite being outscored by the Eagles 46-42 in the second half.

In a game that had a combined 22 3-pointers made, the Hatters outshot the Eagles 44.4 percent (8 of 18) to 35 percent (14 of 40) from long distance. Naburgs led Stetson with a three 3-pointers while Filip Cvjeticanin knocked down five treys for Florida Gulf Coast.

Bernard Thompson paced the Eagles (13-14, 8-8) with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
