HOUSTON (AP) — Tyler Russell scored 21 points on 10 of 14 shooting to help lead Houston Baptist over NJIT 75-68 on Saturday night.

With 7:59 remaining, Terry Hembry hit two free throws to transform a Houston Baptist (9-17, 2-5 Great West) one-point deficit into a one-point lead the Huskies would ultimately widen and never relinquish. NJIT (11-15, 4-5) clawed to within 66-63 with 3:57 remaining on a jumper by Lamar Kearse, but 10 of 12 free throw shooting by Houston Baptist down the stretch sealed the game.

Houston Baptist shot 52 percent from the floor while converting 24 of 30 free throws (80 percent) and NJIT managed to make it to the line only seven times, but converted six of those opportunities.

Isaiah Wilkerson led NJIT with 15 points while Kearse added 14.

Anthony Hill contributed 11 points for the Huskies.
