Moore scores 30 as Hofstra surprises Siena 81-69

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) — Mike Moore scored 30 points and Hofstra took control in the second half to defeat Siena 81-69 Saturday.

In a Bracket Busters game, the Pride (9-20) broke a 37-all halftime tie, outscoring Siena (12-15) in the second half. Hofstra committed just 10 turnovers to Siena’s 21. The Pride outscored the Saints 22-8 on points off turnovers.

Moore stuck six 3-pointers, hit all six of his free throws and also made three steals. Stevie Mejia scored 16 points, 12 coming on treys. Mejia also contributed six assists and four steals. Nathaniel Lester was also in double figures for Hofstra with 15 points.

OD Anosike led Siena with a 22-point, 12-rebound double-double, going 10 of 12 from the field. Kyle Downey added 17 points and Owen Wignot and Rob Poole had 10 apiece. Poole’s tip-in with 4:11 left pulled Siena within 69-67. But Moore’s jumper, then a trey, made it 74-69.
