Belmont beats Kennesaw State 90-50

KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) — Mick Hedgepeth scored all 12 of his points in the first half and Scott Saunders had a double-double as Belmont routed Kennesaw State 90-50 on Thursday night for its 10th straight win.

Saunders, who had eight rebounds in the first half, finished with 12 points and 10 boards while Drew Hanlen added 11 points and Adam Barnes 10.

Belmont (23-7, 15-2 Atlantic Sun Conference) trailed 3-2 early in the first half but it was the last time Kennesaw State would see the lead, as the Bruins used a 23-3 run to open a 25-6 lead with 8:52 left in the period.

Hedgepeth knocked down consecutive layups to give Belmont a 46-15 lead at halftime.

The Bruins shot 61 percent (34 of 56) from the field while holding Kennesaw State (3-27, 0-17) to just 29 percent (17 of 58).

Markeith Cummings and Mirza Sabic had 15 apiece for Kennesaw State.
