CRANS-MONTANA, Switzerland (AP) — Bode Miller will skip a second World Cup super-G race on Saturday after having minor surgery in the United States.

U.S. team coach Sasha Rearick says Miller had a “scope to clean up” his left knee this week. He missed the super-G race won by Didier Cuche on Friday.

Rearick says Miller “really wanted to go, but he made the right decision to be a little bit smarter.”

Miller is expected to train on Saturday and could start in Sunday’s giant slalom in Switzerland.

Miller competed in a giant slalom last weekend at Bansko, Bulgaria, despite damaging his knee days earlier on an icy course in Sochi, Russia.

Rearick says Sochi “was tough” on the racers.
