VENETA, Ore. (AP) — Four cows were killed in separate crashes after high winds blew open a pasture gate and the cows wandered into a highway.
No one was injured in the crashes on Friday night near Veneta.
The cows belonged to a Eugene-area meatpacking plant.
One of the cows was put down by an Oregon State Police trooper because of its injuries.
State police formed a fence with their patrol cars and spent about one hour herding the cows rest of the escaped cows back into the pasture.
